BRAND'S® Essence of Chicken

  • What is BRAND'S® Essence of Chicken (BEC)?

    BRAND'S® Essence of Chicken is made from double-boiling chicken to extract all the goodness of chicken into an easily-digested drink, with all fats and cholesterol removed, resulting in a chicken-based drink.

  • Why does BEC taste salty?

    In one 68ml bottle of BEC, there is 50 mg (or 2% Daily Value) of sodium. We do not add any salt into the product during our manufacturing process. The 50 mg of sodium comes naturally from the chicken meat. BEC is a highly concentrated drink. It has very rich flavour (sometime mistaken as salty), and the flavour comes solely from the chicken meat.

  • Why does it taste so different from home-made chicken soup?

    BEC is different from home-made chicken soup, because it has all fats and cholesterol removed. Foods that are of high fats and cholesterol content are typically more tasty and flavourful. When fats and cholesterol are removed, the taste of the product is altered.

  • Why does the colour of BEC different from home-made chicken soup?

    BEC is a highly concentrated product, thus its colour is typically darker than home-made chicken soup. Since every batch of chicken is different and thus the resulting meat juice may not have a consistent colour, a small amount of caramel is added to maintain the colour consistency.
